Hot Stone is an award-winning design developed in response to the executive chef’s culinary vision, creating an interior that reflects and enhances his Wagyu and sushi-led dining concept.
The space is composed to evoke art, harmony, and restraint, balancing a warm atmospheric glow with a calm spatial rhythm rooted in contemporary Japanese design principles.
Traditional Craftsmanship: Kigumi & Paper Lanterns
The over-bar structure is formed in timber cross-joint carpentry inspired by traditional Japanese Kigumi, with cylindrical paper lanterns suspended within the frame. Together, they define geometry, shadow, and atmosphere.
Subtle green tones on the counter work with the timber structure to reinforce a calm, material-led palette.
Opposite the sushi bar, offset oak slats sit against a soft vertical pink gradient, introducing rhythm and a lighter contemporary balance.

Latticework & Symbolic Geometry
Natural oak lines the dining space, with mirrored panels referencing Japanese latticework (Itoya-Koushi). Circular forms draw from moon-viewing traditions and the “maru-mado” window found in temples and tea houses.
A Hokusai Ukiyo-e print, Peonies and Butterfly, acts as the focal point, subtly illuminated to anchor the space.
A palette of oak, olive upholstery, black banquette seating, and carbon flooring creates depth, contrast, and restraint.
